St. Patrick's Day Activities, Emergent Reader & a Freebie!

I love St. Patrick's Day. It's a great day to wear some green, get a little silly, and just shake things up a little as we eagerly look forward to Spring Break. If you need some festive activities to keep your students engaged, look no further! I have some great ideas to share.

Interactive Sight Word Reader

My students have been LOVING their weekly Interactive Sight Word Reader assignments and I love the improvements I am seeing in their fluency and knowledge of sight words. I created an Interactive Sight Word Reader titled "We Celebrate St. Patrick's Day"in anticipation of this fun holiday. This 6-page emergent reader sells for only $1 and it is a great way to work on the sight word "we" in a meaningful way during the holiday frenzy. You can purchase "We Celebrate St. Patrick's Day" from Teachers Pay Teachers or Teachers Notebook.

Rainbow Skip Counting

No St. Patrick's Day celebration is complete without a leprechaun, and everyone knows how much leprechauns love to hide their gold at the end of the rainbow. Sneak a little math into your activities with Rainbow Skip Counting. The set includes full color teacher charts, full color student charts, and student recording pages to help students master skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s. I let my students use markers to rainbow write their numbers and they immediately thought I was the coolest teacher ever. This resource is priced at $4 and is becoming a hot-seller on Teachers Pay Teachers and Teachers Notebook

Color By Number FREEBIE

Sometimes a teacher just needs something quick and easy to keep students engaged for 5 minutes to get her (or his) head on straight. This FREE color by number leprechaun should do just the trick. Students can review color words while coloring a cute leprechaun friend. Each 8.5x11" sheet of paper separates into two coloring pages so you can conserve paper in the classroom. My students are always so excited to work on one of these quick coloring sheets.
